Did she Know?

Well, hello! I hope you all are having a very wonderful Christmas season. Even though it is not a white Christmas (at least where I live:D), I still love all the lights that everyone has put up and I cannot believe it is almost time for them to come down. :(

~~~                    ~~~                    ~~~                    ~~~
Today's post might pose more questions than answers but I thought it would be a cool topic to discuss. If you have any thoughts on it please leave a comment!
One of my new favorite Christmas songs this year is Mary Did You Know and I really fell in love with the version by Pentatonix. I never really paid attention to this song before but after listening to it a couple of times the questions in this song really sank in.
Here are three of the questions that really stood out to me:
  • Mary did you know that the Child you delivered will soon deliver you?
  • Mary did you know that when you kissed your little baby, you kissed the face of God?
  • Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord over all creation?
To try and answer the main question of if she knew in general, I am going to start by looking at Luke 1:28-38, I am just going to paraphrase the text here but feel free to look up the story.
An angel appeared before Mary and told her that she had found favor in the Lord. Mary was troubled but the angel said:
“Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
Mary questioned about how this could be and the Angel told her how. Mary then answered, "let it be as you have told me" and the angel left her.
Isn't it pretty cool to think that this is the first real action in God's awaited plan? I also think that one of our answers lies in the text above. The angel told Mary what her son was going to be like and what his future was going to be. This somewhat gives a suggestion that Mary had a little hint of how important this child was and in John 2 -- when Jesus turned the water into wine -- Mary believed that Jesus could do it. I do not doubt that Mary had faith that Jesus was God's son and that He would be great and could do great things.
I don't know though if she knew/understood the whole reason why Jesus was here.
I also find it pretty amazing how when she held or kissed Jesus she also held and kissed God.
Even though we can't really answer the specific questions on this topic, I thought that it would interesting to ponder about them. If you have any more thoughts I would love to hear them.
Have a Merry, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Hello December!
Well, we are now three days officially in December and the countdown to Christmas is on! As you can see I have changed the background to bring some of that Christmas spirit here:)
This year, like every year my mom asks me what I am going to do for my Christmas Resolution(s) (kinda like New Year's, but stuff that you are going to do for Jesus). We both pick a couple of things we want to work on/do and then we work on them during advent. Do not know what advent is? Click here!
I have been thinking, what to do and I think I have decided (so far) on these things:
  1. Put time away regularly to work on my blog. --- I am so thankful that I have this opportunity to reach people through my blog and to share my thoughts. I pray that the Lord will give me wisdom on what to write about and that my blog could be an inspiring place to grow in Him.
  2. Work on not getting mad or frustrated so fast when someone does not understand what I'm saying or doing. --- In James 1:19, James tells us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.
  3. Put others first this month (and continue it on) for Jesus, because He put us first. --- I am not perfect and will never be, I need God's love and grace, and I also need to think of others more than myself. There are times that someone would ask if I could do something and I have said no, because it put me out of my way or I had to get up from sitting down in a nice warm spot. Jesus did many acts, where he put others first and I know I could get better in that area.
  4. I want to write up the Candy Cane Story up and put it with a candy cane and hang them on people's doors/hand them to people. --- I have thought about doing this in the past, but never really went through with it. I think it would bring joy to some (hopefully all) people and that they would feel the warmth, that they are not alone this Christmas. Because of this small reminder of God's great love for us. This story is of how a Christian candy maker decided to create a candy that could also be a witness to his faith. He made each thing on the candy can to represent a different thing about Jesus.
Here is a picture of what each thing represents
I hope you all have a wonderful start to this Christmas season!
